Beauty really is skin deep ♥
The skin is made up of three layers, the epidermis, dermis, and the hypodermis, all three of which vary significantly in their function. The skin’s structure is made up of an intricate network which serves as the body’s initial barrier against pathogens, UV light, and chemicals, and mechanical injury.
A good skin care regime using good quality traditional skin care products will help you to protect your skin from the environment and natural signs of ageing however, these are designed to treat only the first layer of skin, the epidermis.
If you have specific skin concerns or want to achieve optimal results, a skin care treatment that is designed to go deeper than the first layer, will be recommended.
What skin treatments are available?
There are many skin care treatments available including: Microdermabrasion, Laser Skin Resurfacing, Chemical Peels, Laser Skin Rejuvenation, Microneedling. Let’s look at some of the treatments offered at LW Clinic in more detail.
Facials
A facial is a skin care treatment for the face. This can include exfoliation, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, and massage. They are normally performed in beauty salons or spas. They can be used for general skin health as well as for specific skin conditions.
Deep cleansing and exfoliation helps with greater cell turnover, resulting in softer, more even skin that is less prone to breakouts and shows fewer signs of ageing.
The gentle, light massage will also enhance circulation in your face by delivering oxygen around the skin and pushing waste and toxins out of the lymph nodes.
Great for:
♥ General wellbeing
♥ Improving skin health
♥ Drains build-up of lymphatic fluid within your face
Dermaplaining
Dermaplaning is designed to exfoliate your skin and remove dirt and ‘peach fuzz’ the fine, thin, light hair covering the face.
The exfoliation and hair removal can leave your skin brighter and smoother. The treatment may soften fine lines and wrinkles and ease hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone. It’s also used to treat deep acne scars. How well it works really depends on your skin type, tone, and medical history.
Great for:
♥ Brightening and smoothing your skin
♥ Softens fine lines and wrinkles
♥ Treats acne scars
Chemical skin peel (best seller)
A chemical peel is solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. The aim is to improve the appearance of the skin, by reducing age spots and evening out skin tone. There are 3 types of peels, called superficial, medium and deep.
Great for:
♥ Improves the skin’s natural colour, clarity tone and texture ♥ Stimulates new collagen and healthy skin growth
♥ Reduces discolouration caused by sun damage ♥ Helps to clear up break outs ♥ Smoothes away the look of fine lines and wrinkles
Microneedling
Microneedling is the process of creating small puncture wounds in the top layer of the dermis. These tiny punctures signal the body to begin its natural healing process. In addition to stimulating rapid cell turnover, the body boosts the production of collagen and elastin.
Collagen production is essential for attaining youthful, healthy glow. As we age, our bodies naturally begin to produce less collagen. Reduced collagen means more noticeable lines and wrinkles. By signalling the body to produce more collagen, microneedling allows the body to fight the signs of ageing.
It is a good idea to start this type of treatment in your 20’s or 30’s so that the boost in collagen production is more significant. This is going to train the skin to produce collagen regularly and keep your skin looking younger longer.
Great for:
♥ Boosts the production of collagen and elastin
♥ Helps to combat the signs of ageing
LED Light Treatment
LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive hand and facial treatment that uses narrow band, non-thermal LED light energy to trigger your body’s natural cell processes to accelerate rejuvenation and repair of the skin.
Great for:
♥ Kills the bacteria responsible for acne
♥ Fights ageing
♥ Heals wounds
